PhilippinesCareer Executive Offices Program - Customised Study Award (AusAID) - A customised bursary award for 5 senior public sector executives to benchmark current management practices in the Australian public sector as well as change management strategies for effective public sector restructure and efficient community service delivery. Developing Effective Capacity Building Support Programs for Small to Medium Enterprises in the Philippines AusAID) - The capacity building program provided the Department of Trade and Industry - Bureau for SME Development staff with the capacity to develop relevant, practical and effective strategies and support mechanisms, methods and programs to support SMEs in line with national development objectives. Building the Capacity of the Department of Education in Educational Leadership and Management in Supporting School Based Management (AusAID) - The primary objective of this program is to strengthen the quality of educational leadership, management and capacity to institutionalize school based management throughout the Philippines. Building and Strengthening Industry Associations and the Chamber Professional Team (AusAID) - The training provided participants from Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry with knowledge and skills in building and strengthening the Chamber's operations through the formulation of specific Action Agenda for implementation within 6 months after the training, Industry Associations through the development of a Handbook on Establishing and Strengthening Industry Associations/Sectors, and Training and Consultancy modules in Building and Strengthening Industry Associations. Institutional Strengthening for Effective Economic Regulation of Water Services (AusAID) Developing Peace-Building Strategies for Non-Government Organisations in the southern Philippines (AusAID) - The program sought to address the broader development need in facilitating effective participation by communities and institutions in the Mindinao Peace Process. The goal of this program was to improve the capacity of NGOs to develop peace-building strategies in an organised, systematic and sustainable manner. The outcome of this was a 'Blueprint for Peace' which has been used as a strategic framework to intergrate and coordinate the participant's peace building activities. Trainers’ Training on Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights (AusAID) - This training sought to enable senior Department of Science and Technology Regional Directors to effectively assist their clients, particularly Small to Medium Enterprises, in addressing intellectual property rights (TRIP) related trade issues particularly on intellectual property commercialisation in industry and its implications on cross-country trade. VietnamUpper Secondary Education Development Project – Training Subcomponents on Teacher Training, Curriculum Development (ADB) - Provided trainees with skills and knowledge concerning modern educational practices in curriculum development, upper secondary instructional materials development, teaching methodology, and education quality assessment, evaluation and quality supervision. Teaching Methodologies (ADB) - This program aimed to improve the capability of educational administrators in education management and leadership, by gaining international experience in education management, and to improve managerial skills in areas such as personnel, financial and change management, and strategies for staff development. Educational Leadership and Management (ADB) - The objective of this program was to improve teaching methodologies for Vietnamese master students, particularly in integrating ICT to teaching; for participants to gain international experience in student-centred teaching and project-based teaching; and to improve the ability of teachers to develop students with critical thinking. IndonesiaTrainers Training in Outbreak Management for Avian Influenza in Indonesia (AusAID) - The project contributed to the development of Indonesia’s capacity to manage an outbreak of Avian Influenza by assisting with the development of a framework for outbreak management and training key personnel. The project utilized the standard international framework of Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery (PPRR). Development of Strategic Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management in Indonesia (AusAID) - At the end of the program, participants from Indonesian water planning agencies were able to identify and develop appropriate strategic frameworks for IWRM in their respected areas. Asset Appraisal for Financial Restructuring and Regional Autonomy (AusAID) - This program provided training for practicing asset appraisers/valuers in Indonesia to support the new responsibilities of local governments under regional autonomy. Papua New GuineaPapua New Guinea Primary and Secondary Teacher Education Project (AusAID) - PASTEP is a five-year project designed to raise the quality and relevance of teacher education to meet the requirements of the national Education Reform Agenda. This is being achieved through the strengthening and improvement of teacher education in Primary, Secondary and Special Education areas, and by promoting and implementing gender equity and change management. Project components include the provision of consultancy services; procurement of curriculum resources, computers and equipment; construction and operation of computer/learning centres in-country and in-Australia training; ‘twinning’ arrangements with the University of Goroka; refurbishment and construction of teacher college and university facilities; and a feasibility and design study of distance education in teacher education. Tertiary Study Program Activity, Curriculum Reform Implementation Project (AusAID) – This project assisted the government of Papua New Guinea to reform education from Elementary Prep to Grade 10. An integral component of the project was the implementation of capacity building programs for all relevant national and provincial education staff involved in the education reform from elementary to lower secondary. ThailandEducation Reform Project (ADB) - This was a technical assistance project, which aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Thai Government to carry out the education reforms mandated by the National Education Authority that included measures to improve teaching and learning, administrative leadership, and community accountability. The education improvement model developed by Thai educators introduced under the TA was hoped to integrate teacher in-service training in the use of new educational technologies, including IT, with administrative and community support for student learning and modern school-based continuous assessment. Western SamoaSupporting the Samoa School Net and Community Access Pilot Project (ADB) - Assisted with the establishment of the Facility and provided a program of training and support to staff. MaldivesInstitutional Strengthening in Developing Strategic Plan in Emergency Health & Disaster Management in the Maldives (AusAID) – The outcome of this program was the collaborative production of a strategic plan for the development of emergency medical services in the Maldives that included investment and educational requirements. Our aim was to establish long-term partnerships with Australian Institutions and individuals that will assist with the development, and raise understanding and awareness of emergency management amongst health officials in the Maldives. |
